Good morning Secretary General, fellow delegates, teachers and parents. My name is ASHWATH and I am the ambassador of NEW ZEALAND. Would the delegates of NEW ZEALAND please stand to be recognised?

I am proud to introduce NEW ZEALAND to you here today. NEW ZEALAND is located in the Southern Hemisphere, it is a very large country and surrounded by seas and oceans. It’s closest neighbours are New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. Australia has about 23 million people living there, but compared to the land size it is not considered a populous country.

NEW ZEALAND has a population of 4.5 million people. NEW ZEALAND people live a good life and they are lucky to have access to good medical care and education.

Australia’s economy is the 12th highest in the world. Australia has many valuable natural resources that make it a rich country - like iron ore, coal, gold, uranium and natural gas. It has a strong agricultural industry and exports its food to many parts of the world.

Some of the main crops grown are wheat, barley, sugar cane, citrus and coffee beans.

A challenge that Australia faces is sustainable growth, because most of its country is quite Arid. Meaning that the country is very dry, which makes it difficult for the growth of crops.

NEW ZEALAND was one of the first countries to join the UN, it is currently one of the temporary members of the Security Council. They have contributed to the United Nation’s activities for over 60 years.

NEW ZEALAND works hard to help all it’s people so they are able to live a healthy, peaceful life.

Thank you for your attention and I pass my time back to the Secretary General.
