Kia Ora! We are really proud to be here today. This is my delegate partner ..................... and I am ........................ .
At the bottom of the southern hemisphere are two small islands known as NZ. Isolated by the Tasman Sea, NZ is surrounded by beautiful coastline, it’s landscape is home to many mountains, lakes, glaciers and fiordlands. New Zealand is a well known country for it’s national bird, the kiwi. New Zealander’s are often referred to as the ‘Kiwi’s’. It is a very unique country with an exotic culture and tradition of the Maori people.
New Zealand was found in 1856. The current Prime Minister of NZ is John Key and it is a democratic society. New Zealand has a fair government system that aims to do the best for its people. It supports the United Nations and works towards achieving World Peace and Global Developments Goals. New Zealand is currently one of the temporary members of the security council.
New Zealand has one of the smaller populations in the world of about 4.4 million people but has a diverse culture. The main languages spoken are English and Maori. The Maori people are the indigenous people of NZ and have created many of NZ’s culture and traditional practices.
New Zealand is currently going through a spike in their economy. It’s major industries are tourism, fishing, forestry, mining and agriculture. With it’s main exports being wood, wool, meat and dairy products. The average yearly income of a ‘Kiwi’ is $55,000 per year, it might sound a lot but it is really low compared to the prices of houses in NZ.
New Zealand is an excellent place to live in but it has some problems. Firstly, it’s two islands lie on 2 Tectonic Plates which causes regular earthquakes. Next, due to rising global temperatures the glaciers are melting which can cause sea levels to rise, coastal erosion and floods. Lastly, if the prices of natural products go down then the economy will suffer because NZ relies on it’s natural products.
Overall, we think NZ is an ideal place to live for families, the education for children is excellent and the healthcare is amazing. Safety is high and the natural environment allows people to have fun and enjoy a lifestyle in the outdoors.
We look forward to getting to know you in our committee room sessions and just remember New Zealand is a great country, with great people.
Thank you for listening, we now hand our time back to the chair.
